Disney & Tim Burton Reimagine Dumbo
While people may love the original, the first trailer for Disney & Tim Burton’s live-action reimagining of Dumbo has been released. Dumbo, which will be released on March 29, 2019 in the UK, is the first of many live action Disney remakes being released in 2019.
This new Dumbo shifts the focus from the cute Elephant and his best friend Timothy Q Mouse to a new character, former circus star Holt Farrier (played by Colin Farrell). He is thrown in charge of the adorable baby elephant. The cast also includes Danny DeVito as circus owner Max Medici, Michael Keaton as entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere and Eva Green as trapeze artist Colette Marchant.
My Reaction
So as normal I decided to record my first reaction and thoughts to the new teaser trailer. From my reaction alone you can tell that the visuals of this film are stunning!
Most noteworthy is how different the film feels from the original classic. There is an obvious lack of talking animals and numerous new lead human characters such as Holt Farrier and his children.
Personally the most iconic moment of the trailer is seeing Dumbo come out flying through the circus tent. That small moment is enough to make me certain that the film will retain the magic of the original.
My only worry with this film is that it may follow Disney and Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland in being too much of a detour from the original film. Hopefully from that franchise the creatives have learnt how to tailer this film to both the die hard DisNerds and new generations to the wonderful world of Dumbo.
Love,
